YES, it was an editorial internship, meaning lots of fact-checking. Calling sources featured in articles, verifying information. Day in, day out. But I was told I could also write brief articles to be published in the magazine. Didn't happen.
Instead, when there wasn't fact-checking to do, I was to look up archived articles, (given 10-year time frame, meaning I looked through 80+ old magazines) or even better, address envelopes and stamp them.
The internship coordinator was really friendly and helpful, but none of the other employees were that way. The one that had an office across from my cubicle was particularly rude... he'd talk loudly when he was on the phone and once slammed the door in my face. The receptionist in the lobby of the WQED building never seemed to be in a good mood, either.
I was really looking for something that was more writing oriented, and I didn't get that at all.
