There was quite a bit of grunt work in this internship: data entry, fact-checking, etc. I also got to research and write a few stories for the Florida Monthly magazine, which was a good opportunity. I didn't get paid for this internship, but they did give me a two-night stay at a St. Pete Beach resort, which they probably got free being a leisure magazine, but was still nice. The owner/publisher was a bit overbearing though, but not too bad to me as the intern. The worst part was that the owner's wife was also the editor, and they had a 2-year-old child they brought into the office everyday. The scent of poop often wafted by my desk for hours at a time. If I ever have to work next to the scent of a poopy diaper again, I will have to hurt somebody!!
