It was great in that I got real-world experience at a local paper. I had to do grunt work, like fact-checking the dining guide, but I also got to write quite a few intricate articles for the Life section. Two of them made the front page of the section, and I was able to double up on one of those to be a final story for my feature writing class. So, I got great real-world experience, but I wasn't paid and I had to drive to Lakeland two days a week to get it. Oh, and the paper had only had one prior intern from UCF, so there wasn't much of a structure for interns. I think they weren't quite sure what to do with me, so this internship definitely wasn't for someone looking for guidance.
