I was part of a program called the EPOD at Epic--it's not your typical internship program. I worked on a team charged with creating and executing grassroots strategy, brand partnerships and other big ideas that would help break one of Epic's newer emerging artists. I WAS one of the band's publicists for the summer targeting various market segments by crafting different publicity messages and reaching out to big and small sites and blogs. I set up interviews for the band and got to deal with the band and their management directly. I also was able to make an idea I had for the band happen, and was responsible for making all the billion moving parts happen-- which was really rewarding. It was a wonderful networking experience as well, got to work directly with a lot of people at the label in NY and LA and gained some mentors out of the experience. Also was lucky enough to have lots of awesome perks (even though it was unpaid). Yes, I did stand on the stage in central park while the Los Lonely Boys were performing...don't be jealous.
