Over the course of the spring semester of my senior year at Boston University, I interned in HR at ITA Software. My internship was incredibly relevant to what I was learning in class at the time and really helped me to understand the HR function in a growing company. In addition to normal intern-y tasks like filing and data entry, I got to work on several special projects, like creating recruitment materials and assisting in summer intern hiring, as well as attend on-campus recruiting events.
Since I only had three classes, I worked at 10-15 hours a week, but my schedule was very flexible if I had exams or other school commitments. Not only did I form a strong relationship with my boss, the HR generalist, I also got to work closely with the entire HR team.
Additionally, even as an intern, I really felt like I was a part of the company. Interns at ITA get great perks: excellent hour wages, transportation or parking passes paid for by ITA and free lunch on Fridays. I even got to attend the awesome company party at the New England Aquarium.
The best part of my internship is that after I graduated, I was asked to stay and hired full time as an HR Assistant!
