Environment: My boss created a really laid back and fun atmosphere. I was able to schedule the internship around my school hours. If I had an important test or commitment, my boss was very flexible in letting me take off a day or coming on a different day. My boss is open to any suggestions which makes you feel like part of the team.
Responsibilities: This is different from a "typical" get coffee internship or a big company internship as you are working very closely with few people and are given projects that matter. Your opinion is valued and heard! Plus her product is awesome, so you get invested in it. Since this is a start-up company, you learn what steps are taken in starting a business and help create ideas to market the product in Boston.
Your internship is what you make of it, and if you don't like a certain project you can tell the boss and she'll ask what you'd be interested in doing instead. My duties included researching new places to distribute the product, ways to reach the target market, and collecting feedback from peers to improve the design and quality of the product, and doing misc. office tasks.
