Great internship! I wanted to improve my Excel skills, and I was paired with someone who was great with helping me do that, and at the same time I felt like I was doing something useful. I did a combination of research, data analysis in Excel and condensing that information into Powerpoints that had the key metrics and interesting aspects of the data I had researched. The powerpoints were sent to upper people in the finance division, which I thought was really cool. I had other friends throughout the finance, marketing, and business planning divisions, and day-to-day work differed a lot depending on where you were placed, but everyone I talked to was enjoying their experience.
I really like that every couple weeks you could hear one of the upper executives speak about his experience, to get an idea of how they got to where they are. There were a few fun planned activities too, and the perk of a nice gym to visit on lunch breaks sometimes and free listening to XM radio. The internship coordinator was always accessible and very helpful, as were pretty much everyone I dealt with at XM, from other interns to the higher-up executives. Great, laid-back, creative corporate culture -- a lot of fun!
