I was part of a program called the EPOD at Epic--it's not your typical internship program. I worked on a team charged with creating and executing grassroots strategy, brand partnerships and other big ideas that would help break one of Epic's newer emerging artists. I WAS one of the band's publicists for the summer targeting various market segments by crafting different publicity messages and reaching out to big and small sites and blogs. I learned a lot about digital marketing in the context of a record label and the music industry. I was solely responsible for writing and scheduling the email newsletter sent to thousands of fans and distributors like Walmart and Itunes. Given the opportunity to contribute ideas in the development of the marketing plans and created presentation shown to upper executives. The atmosphere was laid back and fun, while still productive.
