It was great in that I got real-world experience at a local paper. I had to do grunt work, like fact-checking the dining guide, but I also got to write quite a few intricate articles for the Life section. Two of them made the front page of the section, and I was able to double up on one of those to be a final story for my feature writing class. So, I got great real-world experience, but I wasn't paid and I had to drive to Lakeland two days a week to get it. Oh, and the paper had ...

There was quite a bit of grunt work in this internship: data entry, fact-checking, etc. I also got to research and write a few stories for the Florida Monthly magazine, which was a good opportunity. I didn't get paid for this internship, but they did give me a two-night stay at a St. Pete Beach resort, which they probably got free being a leisure magazine, but was still nice. The owner/publisher was a bit overbearing though, but not too bad to me as the intern. The worst part was that the owner's wife was also the editor, and they had ...
