I had a couple bosses and though they were mostly apathetic to the interns; only one in particular was helpful when I reached out. He talked to me about his job and even wrote me a recommendation when I asked. The thing about PR Consulting is, interns have to be incredibly pro-active to get noticed or any kind of guidance. Still, they definitely treat interns as if they'd just hired Urban Express. This was my first internship in the city and after this experience I can say that I have been more than prepared for every other internship I've had ...

This was the worst experience EVER. On my first day, I arrived at the offices, was shown around a little, and then relegated to the back closet with the garment bags and tape along with about 5 other interns. In no time, they had asked me to run a pair of shoes over to Proenza Schouler studios, which I did despite the 95 degree heat and my instructions to walk there (in fairness, it's only about 10 blocks). I have had my fair share dealing with PR companies and this is by far the worst. While they represent amazing names - Balenciaga, Phi, Pierre Hardy, Jil Sander, to name only a few - everyone in the office seems absolutely miserable. The other interns told me there is a "high turnover rate" and I know why. There was a fashion assistant that didn't seem to like brushing her hair that would routinely walk to the back room just to tell interns their work looked "like ****." It isn't about needing to be thanked, but to literally be shooed away ...
