The internship was a real eye-opener to everything that retail pharmacists can do. The pharmacy team at my designated store was awesome! They were all so welcoming and patient with me especially because I had no prior experience. The best aspect of the internship is that you are there to work but more importantly to learn. Any interesting drugs or scenarios that came up were discussed with me in detail by my preceptor or other pharmacy staff. We were also assigned cases midway through the internship which gave a glimpse of the realities of patient medication regimens and the problems ...

You get paid very well to learn!! A fellow intern once made this statement during one of our weekly meetings and he is absolutely correct. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday I am experiencing real world moments of applying what I learned in the classroom out in the pharmacy. Every Wednesday we have group meetings at the corporate office for all interns and our internship coordinator. Here we go over case studies, discuss clinical aspects of an assigned weekly disease state, and we discuss weekly topics concerning the profession of pharmacy. Incorporated in your 8 week internship is a presentation on ...

Best: This internship involved me in the broadening roles of community pharmacists, including clinical services (Zostavax immunizations, medication therapy management, diabetes services) and patient counseling. My preceptor was great - he was very happy to teach me anything that I had questions about. I had three presentations during this internship, and I really enjoyed my OTC presentation on the topic of 'Recent Rx to OTC Switches' because I learned about a lot of different classes of medications. I am a P2 going into P3 and this internship was a great learning experience - there is something in it for every ...

I would highly recommend this internship to anyone looking for more retail experience with an exposure to the management side of pharmacy, clinical programs and real life application of disease states. Everyone was always willing to help and provide feedback. There were 3 total presentations with the final presentation at a community setting. As someone who just finished first year, this internship reinforced a lot of concepts from my P1 and as well as introduced me to new topics not yet discussed in pharmacy school. Overall, it was a great experience!

Great people and experiences. I had the opportunity to learn about aspects of the pharmacy field that can't be obtained from a classroom setting. I was able to play a larger role in my community by setting up vaccine clinics and taking part in diabetes education.
You're able to meet and work with students from different schools. There's also flexibility depending on what you're interested in. Contacts are provided for clinical specialists, DPMs, and other upper management staff who are all happy to teach you more about what they do.
Highly recommended for any ...
