-Participated in a "real world" project that allowed you to really feel apart of the shoe industry
-The project was very open ended which allowed my partner and I to come up with many of the ideas on our own, we weren't held back by restrictions, rules, etc.
-We got to experience both the wholesale and retail sides of the shoe industry
-Absolutely no copying, coffe-getting, etc.
-$10/hour
-We were able to meet and talk with the CEO, not a opportunity an intern is often given

The internship experience was amazing and more than I ever expected it to be. We had a summer long project that we worked on with another intern. Throughout the summer we scheduled meetings everyday with employees throughout the entire company (retail division, wholesale division, marketing, sales, allocation, design legal etc). This gave us a well rounded view of the company and helped shape our final project which we presented to the executive team. This internship differs hugely from others in that there are no more than 10 interns every summer. Many of these retail companies have hundreds of interns across the country where you are only learning from the store viewpoint.
Brown Shoe is unique in that it contains all areas of the retail industry; wholesale, design, retail stores and e-commerce. The internship allows you to dabble in every part and learn from people that want to teach you.
