I was thinking about getting into the sports side of television, and decided this internship would really help me make a decision. I wasn't a sports whiz when I started, but that was OK. I logged Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and BC Basketball games and researched stats for the sportscast. Occassionally I would grab some tapes from the library, but there really wasn't any grunt work. I really felt like I was contributing to the team and learned so much about the industry just from being in that environment. I had a great time, ...

If you're really serious about getting into the news industry, this is a great internship. By working on the assignment desk you start to grasp what stories are newsworthy, how to set stories up, what happens in a newsroom when stories break, etc. It's a very high-paced and exciting internship, but can be very intimidating. Everyone is very professional, but you have to be on top of your game. You cannot slack!!! Working on the weekends is a great time to ask questions since it's slower, and often times they'll give you more responsibilty. ...
